Growing In Leadership

There are lots of opportunities to develop your leadership skills within the context of ministry at KingsGate.

Leadership Training

All of our teams have training opportunities specific to the skills needed for the ministry area. We also periodically bring all KingsGate leaders together for leadership training and encouragement. For upcoming opportunities please speak to your team leader.

As well as training that is made available to everyone there are specific leadership development programmes, Internship and Advance, that you can apply for.

Internship

Internship at KingsGate is a great way to invest a year of your life to discover your destiny and pursue the purpose that God has for you.  

Internship is a 10-month programme starting in mid-September until mid-July the following year. Interns are encouraged to grow through serving and learning in a multitude of ways as they engage with our mission and ministry based in one of our KingsGate centres.

The Internship cohort forms a supportive community and each Intern is partnered with a mentor who provides support personally, in their ministry serving area, and to inspire Interns to grow in their faith.

Applications are welcome from Christians who will be 18 or older when the course starts. Whether you already call KingsGate your home or are currently serving in another church you are eligible to apply for the Internship programme.

Advance

Advance is a comprehensive leadership training programme for Pastors in Training, Associate Pastors and Committed Members who wish to develop skills related to leadership and ministry within the life of the church.

We acknowledge that not everyone can take a year out of their workplace to enjoy the Internship, so in 2018 we launched a pilot of this new training opportunity.

Participants are grouped together in cohorts of around 8 people hosted by one of the Senior Leadership Team.

The course, spread over a year, has four key components:

  • An Individual Leadership Development Plan
  • A Mentor Cohort gathering every 6 weeks
  • Access to online courses and resources
  • Access to optional taught module days
